I know the idea of cookies for breakfast seems wrong on so many levels, but loaded with quinoa, oats, fruit and nuts, they are pretty hard to resist!

Chocolate for breakfast! I made these with whole wheat flour (but you’d never know it). They can be topped with peanut butter glaze, as pictured, or with whipped cream, strawberries and strawberry syrup. It’s amazing either way and a great way to start off Valentine’s Day!

What a neat idea – I love Steel-Cut Oats, and I’m always happy to pull out the kitchen torch. Thanks so much for posting this recipe.

Interesting recipe. Might have to try. The only thing missing is a torch. Is there any other way to carameliz the sugar.

We eat steel cut oats all the time! This looks great — will definitely try soon. If you happen to be in a place with a Trader Joe’s (I know SLC doesn’t have one), try their quick cooking steel cut oats. They cook up in 8 minutes and honestly, I can’t tell the difference between those and the regular ones.

If you don’t have a torch, you can put the oats under the broiler for a couple minutes. Just watch them closely! Thanks everyone!

So I made this yesterday and have to say OMG! Soooo yummy!!!! Probably the best I’ve ever had….I think the milk really does something for it!

Mmmm….eating these right now! I’ve never had steel cut oats, but your idea to brulee them convinced me to try! I really, really like them–thanks!

Oh wow I eat steel cut oats almost every day and I happen to have one of those little torches that I thought I “needed” for coloring metal peices for scrapbooking (???). This looks wonderful. I usually only cook mine for about 10 minutes tho.
