A somewhat traditional sweet potato soup with a little kick.
Dice your sweet potatoes and carrots. Combine them along with the vegetable broth and spices in a large pot over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil then lower the heat and let simmer for 30 minutes or until the vegetables have softened. Remove from the heat. Use a hand blender (or put into a blender) and blend until smooth. Add the half-and-half and blend until fully combined. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
