Also known as Frogmore Stew by us South Carolinians, this dish is perfect for a big party, but can be prepared for as many as you wish.
In a large stockpot, bring the water, beer, Old Bay Seasoning, onion, lemon, and bay leaves to a boil. Add potatoes and cook for 10 minutes. Add the Kielbasa and corn and cook for an additional 10 minutes. Add the shrimp and cook until the shrimp turn pink and start to float to the top (approximately two minutes).
Remove from heat, drain, and pour out onto a large platter, or, for a large crowd (double, triple, etc. the recipe), pour out onto a newspaper-covered table and dig in! Serve with drawn butter and cocktail sauce. This recipe serves 6-8.

I was introduced to this about 15 years ago. Some friends of ours from the South invited us to a low country “bull”. I could not for the life of me understand what she was saying. So we went anyone and found out it was a low country boil. I just couldn’t understand her southern accent over the phone. : ) We loved it!
Last year, we started making this (a little bit different version, almost the same) at our church campout for Sunday dinner. This year we made it for 70 people. We make it outdoors in big propane cookers. Everyone loves it!

we just had this tonight, although I found your recipe after we finished. We call it “Old Bay shrimp boil” -we make a full version, basically double what you have above and WE LOVE IT! Thanks for posting, now I won’t do it.

My husband is from Charleston. We now live in New Mexico, and make this for our friends and family all the time. We made a huge pot for our son’s 1st birthday party. It was a huge hit! We usually use turkey kielbalsa.
