Rich and creamy, this is a family favorite to accompany grill cheese on homemade bread sandwiches.
Sauté onions and garlic in butter till soft and translucent. Add crushed tomatoes, chicken stock, paprika, sugar and cayenne pepper and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and simmer 10 minutes.
Add orzo and simmer 10 minutes.
Add chicken breast, heavy cream and basil and simmer 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste and serve soup garnished with the fresh basil sprigs.
