Hearty and delicious … this potato soup will warm you up and fill you up!
Combine water, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, salt and pepper in a large kettle. Boil for 12-15 minutes or until tender. Do not drain. Meanwhile, make the white sauce by melting butter in saucepan. Add flour, stir until smooth. Slowly add milk; cook until thickened. Add grated cheese to sauce; stir until melted. Add sauce and ham to vegetables that are not drained. Heat through.
Bacon (crisp and broken up) may be used instead of ham.

I made this for my daughter’s birthday dinner (she wanted potato soup). I like that this had cheese in it. We also added corn to ours. It is definatley a potato soup we will be making again!! Thanks for the great recipe!
