Make tasty soup from leftover bread.
This recipe is not for use with white sandwich bread! You should only use the European German kind of bread or wholemeal bread, which both have the necessary texture.
1. Cut the bread into pieces and combine with water and cumin. Add salt and boil until the bread is boiled to a mush, about 5-10 minutes. Cream the soup with a handheld mixer, thicken with a roux from butter and flour, and boil for 20 minutes.
2. If needed, you can add a bit of water or broth and season with salt and pepper. You can also fry any other leftover bits of bread (cut into pieces) with a bit of butter and then add to the soup as a garnish.
3. Cut the onion and brown with the rest of the butter. Add into the soup and serve.
Enjoy.
