This is the closest I can get to my grandma’s dish. Her noodles were handmade, but I find Amish noodles (plentiful here in the midwest) are very close. My son asks for this at least once a month.
Rinse chicken and pat dry with paper towels. Place chicken in a slow cooker.
Add salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, and pour broth over.
Cook on low for 10-12 hours.
Remove chicken from the cooker and add egg noodles and turn to high. Cook for 45 minutes.
When chicken is cool enough to handle, remove skin and meat from bones. Cut meat into bite-sized portions and return to the noodles. Continue to cook until the 45 minutes is up or the noodles are tender.
Serve with (or on top of) mashed potatoes.

I have a similar recipe that has been passed down through several generations of my mom’s family. I’ve never tried making it in a crockpot before though – will definitely try after reading this!
