Description

This recipe makes the moistest, prettiest, best roast turkey for Thanksgiving!

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Turkey, Approx 12 Pounds, Giblets & Neck Removed
  • ½ cups Butter, Cut Into Cubes
  • 2 whole Apples, Cored & Halved
  • 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • ⅔ bottles Champagne (750 Milliliter)
  • 1 whole Onion, Cut Into Thick Slices

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Rinse turkey, pat dry. Gently loosen breast skin and insert pieces of butter between skin & breast. Place apples inside cavity. Sprinkle with garlic powder, & salt & pepper to taste. (Add spices depending on your taste – poultry seasoning, fresh garlic as opposed to powder, herbs de Provence, etc…)

Place turkey in roasting bag and pour champagne over the inside & outside of the bird. Close bag & place turkey in a roasting pan.

Bake 3 – 3.5 hours or until the internal temp reaches 180 degrees F measured in the meatiest part of the thigh.

Remove from bag & let stand approx 20 minutes before carving.
