Description

I got the recipe below from an Indian grandmother during a six week Indian cooking class. Creamy yogurt is blended with fresh mango, ice, and a little sugar. The first time I tried it, I was hooked. Now I regularly make it during the summer. So good and so simple.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole Mango
  • 2 cups Plain Yogurt
  • ¾ cups Sugar
  • 1-½ cup Water
  • ¾ cups Ice

Preparation

Wash, peel and cut the mango. Put the yogurt, mango, and sugar in a blender and blend for 2 minutes. Add ice and water, liquefy for another minute. Serve.

Oh! And I see you use water, where we tend to use milk.

Mango Lassis are a favourite in our house, although we make them with honey and a pinch of salt as well as some cardamom seeds. Then top with ground pistachios! Mmmm

Adding rosewater sounds great. Thanks for the suggestion!

I loooooove mango lassis! I actually use a little splash of rose water before blending it all together. It tastes pretty good that way. Can’t wait to try your recipe though!
