Description

Super easy and delicious, with or without sugar. Make a batch of chai masala (recipe makes enough mix for 40 servings) and you can have a Chai Latte at home in 5 minutes all winter!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE CHAI MASALA MIX:
  • 3 Tablespoons Ground Ginger
  • 2 Tablespoons Ground Cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • FOR THE LATTE:
  • 200 milliliters Water
  • 1 stick Cinnamon
  • 2  Green Cardamom Pods
  • ½ teaspoons Chai Masala (from Above)
  • 100 milliliters Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar (optional)
  • ½ teaspoons Black Assam Tea

Preparation

For the chai masala:
Mix all the spices and store in an airtight jar. It won’t go bad for years but it might lose a bit of flavor if it sits for more than a year or so. It makes about 40 cups of chai latte.

For each chai latte:
Bring water to a boil in a pot and add chai masala, cinnamon stick and green cardamom pods. Let simmer for 1 minute.

Add milk and sugar (optional), bring back to a boil and let simmer for a minute.

Take pot off heat and add black Assam tea (or other neutral black tea). Let sit for 1–2 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. Strain and serve immediately.
