Description

Cherry chip cake balls covered in white chocolate!

Ingredients

  • 1 box (18.25 Oz. Box) Cherry Chip Cake Mix
  • Additional Required Ingredients Specified In Mix Package (typically Water, Eggs And Oil)
  • 8 ounces, weight Cherry Flavor Store Bought Frosting (not The Whipped Variety If You Can Avoid It)
  • 16 ounces, weight White Baking Chocolate

Preparation

Bake the cake according to directions on the box (you’ll typically need water, eggs, and oil, as directed in mix package). Once cooked, let cool completely.

After the cake has cooled, break it up into small pieces. Put into a large mixing bowl. Add the frosting. Mix it all up with your hands, making sure to incorporate well. After the mixture is well mixed, roll into balls and place on a baking sheet.

Put the balls into the freezer for 30 minutes to chill.

Once the cake balls have chilled for 30 minutes or more, melt your chocolate. Use either a double boiler or the microwave, whichever way you prefer.

Once chocolate is completely melted, put a few of the cake balls into the melted chocolate to coat. Using a fork, let the extra chocolate drip off the cake ball and back into the melted chocolate. Lay on wax paper until coating has a matte finish and is dry.

I randomly found it at a local chain up here in Wisconsin, Festival Foods. I had originally wanted strawberry cake, but my store was out so I decided to try this. They were delicious!

Wow! These look so good. Where do you get the cherry boxed cake mix from? I live in FL and used to get it at Winn-Dixie but they stopped selling it and can’t find it anywhere. This was my favorite boxed cake mix ever. I would love to know! Thanks!
