Description

This is such a simple recipe. Very good and not too sweet. The butteriness is delightful!

Ingredients

  • 1 stick Butter
  • ¼ cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Flour, All Purpose
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ¼ cups Your Favorite Jam Or Preserves

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375ºF.

Cream butter and sugar. Mix in flour and egg until dough forms.

Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Place on a cookie sheet and use your thumb to make a divot.

Fill a pastry bag (or Ziploc bag with a small corner cut off) with jam. Fill “thumbprints” with jam.

Bake for 15 minutes until edges are slightly browned.

bakingqueen…did you melt your butter? I have found that using cold butter cut into small pieces works better than melted butter. This may be the reason your dough was sticky.

I tried this recipe after searching for a basic jam thumbprint recipe. I followed the recipe carefully and was very disappointed in the outcome. The “dough” is so sticky it cannot be rolled and once baked the cookie portion has no flavor.

I doubled the recipe, which should have yielded 50 cookies, but I only managed to make 28. I have a hard time believing that the cookies I made were supposed to be even smaller. They must be really cute. The cookie is very buttery and yummy. I like how it’s not very sweet at all. Just perfect.

This recipe turned out fine for me. The cookies are good with or without jam. I used a cookie scoop and then a baby spoon for the thumbprints; so it didn’t really matter if the dough was sticky! This is a quick and easy treat to make! Thanks Heather!!
