Description

Dressed up strawberry poke cake that’s easy and delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1 box White Cake Mix (18 Ounce Box)
  • Additional Ingredients To Make Cake Mix - Oil, Eggs Etc.
  • 1 box Strawberry Jello Mix, 3 Ounce Box
  • 1 cup Boiling Water
  • ½ cups Cold Water
  • 1 box Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix, 3 Ounce Box
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 container Cool Whip (8 Oz)

Preparation

1. Prepare your cake as directed on the box for a 9×13 pan. When the cake is done baking poke holes in the cake with a fork. Place cake in the fridge to chill for 3-4 hours.

2. Prepare the Jello by combining the mix with 1 cup boiling water and 1/2 cup cold water in a small bowl. Mix together until the Jello mix is dissolved. Pour the mixture over the cake. This will seem like a lot of liquid but the cake will absorb it and it won’t become mush. Trust me!

3. Place the cake in the fridge while you prepare the vanilla pudding mixture. In a small bowl, mix the vanilla pudding with 2 cups milk. Let it sit until it sets. Smooth the pudding over the top of your cake. Top it with the Cool Whip.

Oh yeah and I mix the pudding according to the box then mix equal parts of whipped cream and the pudding and spread it on the cake. Sometimes I sprinkle colored sugar on top and it desolves into the “frosting”.

I make something like this, but instead of putting cold water, I use soda in the same flavor as the jello I am using ie Orange, Strawberry, Cherry or Grape. I call it sodapop cake.

this cake is always so moist thanks to the jello and vanilla pudding/whipped cream “frosting”
