These delightfully light, not too sweet cookies are great anytime, not just Christmas! The orange extract adds a nice subtle hint of orange, but you could substitute any extract to suit your tastes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F).
In a mixer, cream together butter, cream cheese and sugar until fluffy. Add egg, milk and both extracts and blend until smooth.
In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking powder. Then, gradually add flour mixture into the creamed mixture, blending well after each addition. Do not chill dough yet.
Add dough to a cookie press with the desired stencil on it. Squeeze the cookies out onto a greased cookie sheet or silpat and decorate with desired items (I use casting sugar or decorative sugar, but there are countless ways to decorate them, depending on the shape of the cookies you pick.)
Bake for 10 minutes or just until the edges start to brown. Move to cooling rack.
After the first batch, you may indeed need to keep the dough that’s not being used at that moment in the fridge. If the dough gets too soft from the heat of the oven/cookie sheet, they don’t want to come off the cookie press correctly. Enjoy!

Yay–thanks for posting this–was looking for a GOOD Spritz recipe and these ingredients look different than the one that comes w/the cookie press. Yours looks much more interesting, and theirs seemed a tinge BORING
