I just love that name! Can’t help but giggle. These are simple cookies that have an extra touch, being one step away from a sugar cookie.
In a large mixing bowl beat the butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for about 30 seconds, or until softened. Add about half the flour to the butter. Then add the 1 cup sugar, egg, vanilla, baking soda and cream of tartar. Beat until thoroughly combined, scraping the sides of the bowl occasionally. Beat in the remaining flour. Cover and chill for about 1 hour or until the dough is easy to handle.
In a shallow dish combine the remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon. Shape the dough into scant 1-inch balls. Roll the balls in the sugar-cinnamon mixture to coat. Place the balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake in a 375˚F oven for 10 to 11 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove cookies from the oven and cool on wire racks. Makes about 36 cookies.
