If you ever heard about the raving reviews on the NY Times chocolate chip cookie recipe, you most likely heard that it takes almost 3 days for the dough to settle. But who has that much time? This recipe yields the softest and chewiest cookies if baked for the proper amount of time (which is very underdone). Give it a try! This is one of the best chocolate chip cookie recipes ever.
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl. Beat butter until it breaks apart, then add the sugars, egg and vanilla and beat until really light in color. Add all the flour mixture and beat just until all the ingredients are combined. With a spoon or spatula, stir in the chocolate chips and scrape the bowl if not fully mixed together.
Drop spoonfuls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 6-7 minutes (for cookies scooped out with a medium-sized ice cream scoop). The cookies with be really pale in color when you take them out and barely brown on the edges but leave them on the sheet for about 10 minutes and they will be perfect!
