Description

These peanut butter bars are delicious and simple! The milk chocolate icing on top is so delicious and cannot be compared!

Ingredients

  • FOR THE BARS:
  • 1 stick Butter
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups White Sugar
  • ⅓ cups Peanut Butter
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1-¼ cup Flour
  • FOR THE ICING:
  • 6 Tablespoons Butter (no Alternates!)
  • 1-½ cup White Sugar
  • 6 Tablespoons Milk
  • 1 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1 dash Vanilla

Preparation

For the bars:

1. Preheat oven to 350 F. In a large bowl, cream butter, sugars, peanut butter, egg and vanilla until smooth.
2. Add baking soda and salt then slowly add in flour. Mix well. The dough will be very thick.
3. Press into a greased 9×13 pan.
4. Bake for 12 minutes at 350 F.

Start making the milk chocolate icing after the peanut butter bars start baking.

For the icing:

1. Melt butter, sugar and milk in a small saucepan and bring to boil.
2. Allow to cook at a rolling boil for 30 seconds and immediately remove from heat.
3. Add chocolate chips and vanilla to milk mixture, stirring frequently until chips are melted.
4. As soon as the peanut butter bars are ready, remove them from the oven and pour chocolate on top. Spread.

Note: You can use any kind of chocolate chips for the glazed icing. Milk chocolate is the sweetest!

Very disappointing! The mix and taste is great, but 12 minutes is definitely not a long enough cook time for the bars. I left my bars in for 15 minutes and it was still extremely under baked. The chocolate topping is great!
