Description

Peanut butter cookies with a chocolate kiss. My favorite of the many cookies my grandmother made at Christmas every year. Her recipe calls for Hershey’s kisses, but I usually use candy melt disks because it makes the cookies easier to store.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Margarine Or Butter, Softened
  • ½ cups Peanut Butter
  • ½ cups Brown Sugar
  • ½ cups Sugar
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 2 Tablespoons Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1-¾ cup Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • Extra Sugar For Rolling Cookies
  • 48 whole Hershey's Kisses Or Chocolate Candy Melt Disks

Preparation

Cream margarine, peanut butter and sugars until smooth. Add egg, milk, and vanilla and mix until combined. Add remaining dry ingredients and stir until incorporated. Place batter in refrigerator for about half an hour to cool. This will firm it up and make it easier to handle.

Shape dough into 1″ balls and roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 2″ apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. While baking, if using Hershey kisses, remove foil wrappers.

Remove cookies from oven when they start to brown on top. Immediately press a Hershey kiss or candy melt in the center of each cookie, twisting a bit as you press it in. Remove from cookie sheet and cool.
