Classic Oatmeal cookies.
Simmer raisins and water in pan over low heat until raisins are plump (20-30 mins). Drain liquid from raisins into a 1 cup measuring cup and add needed water (this is your 1 cup of water called for).
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in raisin liquid.
Blend dry ingredients and add to wet.
Add oats, nuts and raisins.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 2″ apart for 8-10 minutes @ 400 degrees.
Makes 6-7 dozen.
