Description

Another recipe from my ex-mother-in-law. These are a delicate melt-in-your-mouth sugar cookie. The only time these weren’t delicious was when I was 18 and made them for the first time. Added a tablespoon of cream of tartar instead of a teaspoon. Never made that mistake again! A plateful and a pot of coffee and you’re good to go!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter Or Margarine
  • 1 cup Oil
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar, Sifted
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 4 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Cream Of Tartar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Preparation

Cream together butter, oil and sugars. Add vanilla and eggs, mixing well. Sift together dry ingredients and add to the sugar mixture, mixing well. Refrigerate until well chilled. Roll dough into walnut-sized balls and flatten with a glass dipped in sugar.

Bake 10 minutes at 350F. They should only be brown around the edges. Don’t over bake!

These are good tasting & easy to make. I really don’t care for cooking oil in my cookies & wonder what they would be like using just butter ~ also they are a bit on the crumbly side, is this because of the oil? Will for sure keep the recipe, but may do some tweaking & testing (which is normal for me) Thanks for sharing!
