A neighbor gave this recipe to my mom when I was a child. There are probably several variations of this floating around. This is the one that I like the most and I made them for my family recently for the first time and they loved them. They are easy and delicious and more like candy than a cookie.
Combine sugar, cocoa, milk, butter and vanilla and put in a saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly until it comes to a boil for 1 minute. Combine oatmeal and peanut butter in a large bowl. Use a fork to work the peanut butter through the oats until it is a crumbly mixture.
After the chocolate mixture has come to a boil, pour over the oats and stir until combined. Spoon out with a cookie scoop onto wax paper and let them cook until set. Then DIG IN!

My grandmother makes these. We call them Oatmeal Fudgies and use a small can of evaporated milk in place of the regular. These are amazing and always a party pleaser!
