Description

A cookie exchange recipe! This cookie is fantastic- the frosting is a must, in spite of my dislike for an extra step

Ingredients

  • FOR THE COOKIES:
  • 1 cup Shortening
  • ½ cups Butter
  • 2 cups Brown Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon Maple Extract
  • 3 cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 2 cups White Chocolate Chips
  • ½ cups Chopped Pecans
  • _____
  • FOR THE FROSTING:
  • ¼ cups Soft Butter
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Maple Flavoring
  • 3 Tablespoons Milk
  • 1-½ cup Pecan Halves

Preparation

Directions for Cookies:

In a large bowl; cream the shortening, butter and brown sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla and maple flavoring. Combine flour and baking soda; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Stir in white chocolate chips and chopped pecans.

Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 F for 9-12 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks.

Frosting Directions:

In a bowl; cream the butter, confectioner’s sugar, maple flavoring and enough milk to achieve spreading consistency. Frost each cookie with 1 teaspoons of frosting; top with a pecan half.

These were delicious. I love the maple flavor, although I felt like I was eating a praline-type cookie which was even better. Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe.

Wonderful recipe. Maple and pecan together is a super flavor combination. I baked them for a track meet hospitality room this summer and people kept coming back for more, and they disappeared quickly. I also baked them for the State Fair. They won a ribbon! Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Glad you like them! They are my favorite cookie next to choc chip. Glad the Marines liked ‘em too. My bro is a U.S. Marine so they have a special place in my heart :)

How could someone rate these without taking the time to gush all over the place about how good these things are! Thank you so much for sharing the recipe with the rest of us. I made these for a group of hungry U.S. Marines and one of them came up to me and said “We took a vote and these are the best cookies we have ever eaten.” Wow! Anyhow, the smells from the oven as these things cooked filled my house with mapley goodness. Mmmm. Thanks again!
:)

These are insane. And by insane, I mean delicious! I made these for Thanksgiving this year to go along with the traditional pies, but people were grabbing for these left and right. They are super rich, but worth every bite! Instead of the one pecan on top, I sprinkled chopped pecans on the icing before it set. My husband is still talking about these and can’t wait until I make them again.

Super flavor combination. These will definitely be in my holiday baking plan this year. I have made them several times for cookie trays, and they were the first to disappear. I also got a ribbons at the Kansas State Fair on them this fall. I did not need all of the frosting, so I just make 1/2 for a batch. Yum!

I made these very recently and they are now in my Top 5 favorite cookie recipes! First of all they are delicious! The maple flavor is subtle, not overwhelming. The white chocolate chips add a pleasant surpise. These cookies have a lovely maple and brown sugar flavor. Second, they are easy, similar to making a chocolate chip cookie. I omitted the pecan on top. They still rocked. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
