Description

Good old southern version of a pound cake that’s to die for.

Ingredients

  • 1-½ cup Softened Butter
  • 5 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 3 cups Flour
  • 3 cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Or Almond Extract (Optional) In Addition To The Vanilla

Preparation

Mix butter, eggs and milk together in mixer. Pour dry ingredients in bowl and combine. Add combined dry ingredients to the mixer and add extracts. Mix just until combined.

Pour into prepared angel food cake pan. (Can be baked in loaf pan, but that is not how Grandmother did it.)

Bake at 300 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

This cake is delicious out of the oven, cooled and especially good if wrapped up tightly and allowed to ‘set’ for a day or two.

This was AWESOME! I tastes just like my very southern grandmother who has lived on a farm her whole life makes every time she has company. The cake was huge so I have sent chunks of it to others to spread the love:) Yum, yum, yum!

This is wonderful! I baked it in mini loaf pans for gifts and added dried cranberries and chopped walnuts for a festive touch! Delicious!

This is excellent! Moist, dense – easy to make and great taste! Just to note – I mixed the ingredients the traditional way, and used only vanilla. We were very happy with it.
