My children called their great grandmother (my grandmother) GeeGee. She died last summer from cancer, so these cookies are very sentimental to us. They are the best chocolate chip cookies ever. Hands down.
Preheat oven to 350.
Cream Crisco with both types of sugar. To this mixture, add eggs (unbeaten), water, vanilla, flour, salt and soda. Combine.
In another bowl, mix together oatmeal, nuts and chocolate chips. Add to original mixture.
This dough will be very full, I prefer to mix it at this point with my hands.
Put teaspoonfuls of dough on a cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.

Thanks GeeGee! We love you and miss you!

Oh, these also come out well if you use whole wheat flour. Just to let every one know

I am so glad you liked it! I just made some this week too, only I had no chocolate chips so I had to sub M & M’s. That was awesome as well.

These cookies are really good. I love the fact that they have oatmeal for fiber and whole grain. We loved these and I am glad I made double!
