Description

The heavy cream is what makes the frosting, and the meringue powder sets it so you can safely use it on sugar cookies without any danger of sticking. Great for cupcakes or cakes too!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 8 cups Confectioners Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Meringue Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Flavoring
  • ½ teaspoons Butter Flavoring
  • 4 ounces, fluid Whipping Cream

Preparation

1. Cream the butter and Crisco until light and fluffy.

2. Add sugar, meringue powder and half of the whipping cream. Beat well.

3. Add the rest of the ingredients and remaining whipping cream until you reach the consistency needed.

ENJOY! You may very well end up using this for everything that calls for frosting.

This is excellent frosting. The meringue powder and vanilla, almond butter flavoring combo makes it great. very slight crust which is fine. Will make again for sure. Takes color well and decorates a cake very well.

I really think this is excellent. It does have that kind-of sugary, grainy texture going on that you find in typical bakery-made frostings, but that’s OK with me. But, the meringue powder & the flavorings really make it. It is excellent for spreading and decorating, and holds up amazingly well. Super easy to whip up, too; gorgeous clear white color (especially if you use clear vanilla extract) and it tints up beautifully. My new go-to.

Love this icing! I was going to post it but discovered someone had already shared it. I love buttercream icing but this is the best I’ve ever made. The almond cuts the sweet a little bit and it does make a nice crust which takes me back to the wonderful bakery in my hometown growing up. They used icing like this on everything from donuts to cookies to their wonderful cakes.

You can use this for wedding cakes as well just add 1/2 tsp. extra meringue powder, 1/2 tsp. extra of the flavors and if you want very white icing use icing dye to bleach out the color.
