An interesting way to turn butter-rich club-type crackers (such as Waverly, Keebler) into delicious cookies. Mom used Waverly.
Place butter and sugar in saucepan. Bring to a boil and continue boiling for 2 minutes. Remove pan from heat and cool mixture slightly.
Using metal tongs, dip crackers, one at a time, into the warm mixture. Place cracker on a cookie sheet and sprinkle with almonds or pecans.
Bake 350 degrees for about 5 minutes. Watch carefully to ensure they don’t burn.
Remove sooner than 5 minutes if necessary. Cool on a cookie rack.
Makes about 3 dozen cracker-cookies.
