Description

These chewy cookies are to die for… A chocolate explosion! Very quick to throw together and fast baking, they don’t last long.

Ingredients

  • ½ cups Butter
  • ½ cups Butter Flavored Crisco
  • ½ cups Light Brown Sugar, Lightly Packed
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ¾ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ⅔ cups Cocoa Powder
  • 12 ounces, weight Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Chopped Walnuts If Desired

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a mixer combine butter, shortening and sugars. Mix until fluffy, add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla and mix. Set aside.

In a small bowl combine flour, salt, soda and cocoa powder and mix thoroughly. Stir this into the butter mixture 3/4 cups at a time, mixing well after each addition and stopping to scrape sides as needed. When mixed thoroughly add in chocolate chips and nuts (if desired).

Drop by measured tablespoonful onto lined cookie sheets and bake 8 minutes. Remove from oven and let stand on cookie sheet 1 minute before removing to wire racks to finish cooling. This step is important as the cookies need this extra minute to finish baking.

Wait until just cool enough to tolerate, and eat!!!

Makes 48 cookies, if you use a measured tablespoon cookie scoop.

Delicious. Soft in the middle with a tiny crunch on the outside.
