Tastes just like a cream puff but comes in a neat dessert square!
On stove top, heat water and butter to boiling in large sauce pan. Stir in flour, stirring until mixture “leaves” the side of pan. Remove from heat and beat in eggs, one at a time with hand held mixer, beating well after each addition.
Put in a 9×13 pan and bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove (will be puffy) and punch down with back of wooden spoon. Cool.
Mix pudding, cream cheese and milk. Pour over cooled crust. Spread Cool Whip on top and drizzle with chocolate syrup.
Chill for at least 4 hours. Enjoy!

Somewhere in the past, I knew this dessert as moon pie! It was baked in a really large splatter-ware circle pan. I am making this for Sunday dinner, but I got inspired to make ahead homemade chocolate pie filling instead of this yummy sounding filling. Thanks for the tip, flemel2001!

This is definitely a family favorite! I recommend not drizzling the chocolate syrup until you’re ready to serve. I would also advise drizzling the chocolate over individual pieces instead of over the top of the entire 9×13 pan (unless you know that the whole pan will be consumed that day). I find that it doesn’t look as appealing if it’s refrigerated as leftovers with the syrup already on.
