Sugar cookie plus chocolate… What could be better?
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the butter, sugar, egg, and extracts with your mixer until well beaten. Add the flour and baking powder and mix thoroughly. Place the batter in the fridge for 30 minutes. Roll out dough onto a floured surface and cut into shapes.
Bake for 8-10 minutes. Let cool.
Place the chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave safe bowl and heat on high, uncovered for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes until melted. You might want to stir it a couple of times to make sure it doesn’t burn.
Dip half of each cookie into chocolate. Let drain and place on waxed paper until set. Sprinkle with Easter candies.
