Description

A very rich, yet sinfully good, cupcake. Just as good as the bakery!

Ingredients

  • 1 box (18.25 Oz. Box) Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 2 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • ½ cups Vegetable Oil
  • ½ cups Water
  • 3 whole Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • _____
  • FOR THE FROSTING:
  • 8 ounces, weight Cream Cheese, Room Temperature
  • 1 stick Butter, Room Temperature
  • ½ cups Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 4 cups Confectioners Sugar

Preparation

Cupcakes:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake pans with 24 paper liners. Set the pans aside. Place the cake mix, cocoa powder, sour cream, oil, water, eggs and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Blend with an electric mixer on low speed for 1 minute. Scrape down the bowl, and increase the speed to medium, beating for another 2 minutes. Pour the batter into the lined cupcake pans, filling each cupcake about three-quarters of the way full. Bake for 28-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool. Frost with frosting.

Frosting:
Place cream cheese and butter in a large mixing bowl. Blend with an electric mixer on low speed until combined. Add the cocoa powder, vanilla, and comfectioners’ sugar and blend with the mixer on low speed until the ingredients are moistened. Increase speed to medium and beat until the frosting is fluffy. Use at once to frost the tops of the cupcakes.

Best frosting I’ve ever made!

The cupcake part wasn’t my favorite. It wasn’t as moist as I like my cupcake to be. However, the frosting was AWESOME so that’s why I gave this 5 mitts. I’ll definitely make the frosting again.

I made these cupcakes today when I was having a MAJOR chocolate craving. I never have success with cupcakes for some reason, but these turned out great. They are by far the best chocolate cupcakes I’ve ever eaten! The chocolate cream cheese frosting was a hit! I must have filled my cupcake liners too full because I only got 18 cupcakes.
