Description

Old family recipe. So good it’ll make your husband go to the grocery store and get the eggs you are out of just so you will be more inclined to make them. True story.

Ingredients

  • 1-½ cup + 1T. Cake Flour
  • 1-½ cup Flour, All Purpose
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 2 sticks Butter
  • 1 cup (scant) Sugar
  • 1 cup Heaping Brown Sugar
  • 2 whole Eggs (large/extra Large)
  • 2 Tablespoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 pound Chocolate Chips (pick Your Poison)

Preparation

*Preheat oven to 350°

*Line baking sheet with parchment paper or silpat

*Sift flours, soda, powder and salt together and set aside

*Cream butter and sugars in an electric mixer, until fluffy

*Add eggs, one at a time, then vanilla

*Add flour mixture in batches

*Stir in chocolate chips

Using a 1″ scoop, overfill and set on baking sheet, 2″ apart. Bake until golden brown, about 15-18 minutes. Cool slightly, then transfer to wire rack.

Makes about 4 dozen depending on size

These have a crisp edge and chewy center, with a somewhat different texture than the usual Tollhouse. A nice change of pace! I didn’t have any cake flour so I used 3 c. of sifted all-purpose flour.

Yum O! I made these cookies today and they were quick and easy. I baked my cookies for 14 minutes and they came out of the oven looking fabulous! They are a little crunchy around the edges (but not too much) and chewy in the middle. Perfect with a glass of milk! My cookie scoop is approx 1 1 /4″ inches and I got about 40 cookies from 1 batch of dough. This recipe is a keeper!
