Warm and chewy, rich and spicy, these cookies are perfect for a chilly afternoon!
Preheat oven to 350 F.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream butter, sugar, eggs and molasses. Mix in melted chocolate. Set aside.
In a small mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients (everything else except the granulated sugar).
Add dry ingredients into the butter/chocolate mixture and mix to combine.
Put the granulated sugar in a shallow bowl.
Roll dough into 1-inch balls. Roll balls in the granulated sugar and place them onto a parchment paper or lightly greased baking sheet, leaving some space between each since they will spread and crack. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until cracks appear in the tops of the cookies. Remove them from the oven and cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
