Description

These bars are so easy, yet so decadent! People will never guess it started with a box mix. Definitely my #1 most requested recipe.

Ingredients

  • 14 ounces, weight Bag Of Caramels, Unwrapped
  • 5 ounces, fluid Can Of Evaporated Milk, Divided
  • 1 box German Chocolate Cake Mix
  • ⅔ cups Butter, Melted
  • ¾ cups Pecans, Chopped
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Coconut

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Heat caramels and 1/4 cup evaporated milk in small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring until smooth. Keep warm over low heat.

Stir together the cake mix, butter, remaining evaporated milk, and nuts. Spread half of the cake batter in an ungreased 13×9″ pan. Bake for 8 minutes and remove from the oven.

Sprinkle chocolate chips and coconut over the baked layer. Drizzle warm caramel mixture on top. Drop remaining cake batter by teaspoonfuls evenly over the caramel layer. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cake portion is slightly dry to the touch. Cool and enjoy!

Note: Use a dry cake mix, and do not prepare it as directed on the box.
