Description

A great use of serrano chili peppers with just the right amount of heat to pretend you are learning to whistle.

Ingredients

  • 10 whole Serrano Chili Peppers
  • 2 whole Jalapeno Chili Peppers
  • ½ whole Red Onion
  • 1 whole Roma Tomato
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • ¼ cups White Vinegar
  • ¼ cups Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Black Pepper

Preparation

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Add the peppers, onion, and tomato to a bowl. Drizzle the olive oil over the peppers, and mix with a spoon. Pour onto a baking sheet and place in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, or until everything is nice and roasted. Carefully remove the peel from the tomato, and pour everything into a blender or food processor. Add the remaining ingredients, place the lid, cover with a towel, and blend until it is nice and smooth.

Taste and season with any salt and pepper, but be careful, this still has a bite. Addicting, and enough heat to build a little sweat, this one is a great sauce and does serrano peppers proud. Enjoy.

I changed almost everything about this recipe, but it came out great, so I’m going to post a review anyway :) Basically what I found out is you can follow the percentages in this recipe, and add any pepper you want. Here’s my altered version:

4 Serrano Peppers
4 Jalapeno Peppers
2 Poblano Peppers
2 Hungarian Wax peppers
4 Anaheim Peppers
1 Onion
3/4 cup Vinegar
1/2 cup Water
1/2 cup Ketchup
2 tbls sugar
Salt and Pepper to Taste

I smoked all the peppers and the onion until they were super tender, seeded the peppers, and threw the whole thing into the blender with all the other ingredients. I’ve dubbed it the Green Goblin and it’s hot but delicious! Thanks for the recipe, it was great!
