Old time recipe handed down from my Grandma Roxie from Oklahoma. A great homemade syrup!
In a medium saucepan combine your dark brown sugar and water.
Bring to a boil uncovered, boiling about 5 minutes or until syrup is the consistency you like.
Add the maple flavoring. Serve hot.
Note: you can use 1 cup of granulated white sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar as an alternative to using all dark brown sugar.
Makes 1 pint.

I have always made it fresh each time, and not stored it. If you want to try, I suggest storing it in the pantry in an airtight jar. Might have a different consistency after it sits a while though.

Do you have to use all the syrup immediately or does it have a shelf life? Thanks!
