Description

It’s true! Only 20 minutes stand between you and the simplest, most savory marinara sauce ever.

Ingredients

  • 4 Tablespoons Real Butter
  • 4 cloves Garlic, Chopped Fine
  • 1 can Tomato Puree (15 Oz)
  • 1 can 28 Oz Hunts Crushed Tomatoes With Basil (or Use Plain Crushed Tomatoes And Add 8-10 Fresh Chopped Basil Leaves)
  • ½ cups Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Chopped Fine
  • 1 cup Shredded Romano Or Parmesan Cheese

Preparation

Over medium heat, melt butter in large skillet and let it brown slightly. Add garlic and saute for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, being careful not to burn garlic or butter. Slowly add the tomato puree, crushed tomatoes, and sun dried tomatoes. Also add fresh basil if plain crushed tomatoes are being used. Reduce heat and cover. Let sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

While sauce simmers, boil some pasta, or toss a salad, or pan fry some ciabatta bread. Serve sauce over hot noodles or sliced pan fried ciabatta bread with Romano or Parmesan cheese.

Thanks Twinks. I read your review and I totally forgot to mention that I have used this sauce over eggplant parmesan. Kindred spirits think alike! Glad it worked out for you. I want to try this with my home canned tomatoes sometime.

I made this sauce today to make krwilson Baked Eggplant Parmesan.
https://tastykitchen.com/recipes/recipes/special-dietary-needs/vegetarian/baked-eggplant-parmesan-2/#cr

I used plain crushed tomatoes so I added about a half cup of fresh basil.

This is so easy and has an awesome flavor. I am excited to have half the sauce left for another use. I have my eye on that pan fried ciabatta.

This is going to go into my permanent recipe file!
