Description

Homemade fried donut holes made with fresh strawberries.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups Vegetable Oil
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 4 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1-½ Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ¼ teaspoons Nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1  Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • ¼ cups Melted Butter
  • 1 cup Diced Strawberries
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar

Preparation

Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat until a thermometer registers 350 F.

While oil heats, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, combine milk, egg and vanilla. Add wet ingredients into the dry ingredients followed by melted butter. Stir until ingredients are incorporated. Gently fold in strawberries.

Once oil has heated, drop dough in using a tablespoon size cookie scoop (or a spoon). Fry donuts for 1-2 minutes per side or until donuts are golden in color. Do not over crowd your Dutch oven. Using tongs or a kitchen spider, remove donuts from the hot oil and allow them to drain on a baking sheet lined with paper towels. Repeat until all the dough has been used.

Once donuts have cooled, roll each donut in powdered sugar.
