This is the syrup I grew up eating with pancakes and waffles. It is a nice middle ground between the expensive pure maple syrup and fake-tasting store-bought syrup. This recipe yields about 2 cups of syrup. It keeps well in an airtight container in the fridge.
Combine water and both sugars in a 2-quart saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally and watching to make sure it doesn’t boil over or burn. Once it boils, stir until sugar has been completely dissolved. Remove from heat and add the vanilla and maple flavor. Serve warm with pancakes or waffles. Store airtight in the refrigerator (can be reheated in the microwave).

i make pretty much the same recipie but have never used brown sugar with the white.. i will be trying this.

Thanks for sharing this recipe. Sounds simple and easy. I think I may try halving it or quartering it, since I’m a one person household.
