Excellent brunch for one.
In a shallow bowl, add beaten egg, vanilla extract, and light cream. Whisk well. Dip bread in mixture and coat each slice on both sides.
In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add coated bread slices and toast each side until lightly browned.
In another bowl, add mascarpone cheese, orange marmalade, and whipped topping. Stir to combine. Remove one toasted slice to a plate and add a generous amount of orange cream. Place the second slice of bread on top. Dust with confectioners sugar if desired. Cut in half and enjoy!
