Description

The children love these for breakfast and so will you. Enjoy this sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • FOR THE FRENCH TOAST STICKS:
  • 3 whole Eggs, Beaten
  • 8 slices White/Wheat Bread
  • 4 Tablespoons Sweet Cream Butter
  • FOR THE CINNAMON APPLE TOPPING
  • ½ sticks Sweet Cream Butter (divided For Frying And Topping Sticks)
  • 2 whole Granny Smith Apples (cored, Peeled And Sliced Very Thinly)
  • 3 Tablespoons Ground Cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • ¼ cups Confectioners Sugar (for Dusting Cinnamon Apple Sticks)

Preparation

Preheat a griddle pan to medium heat and coat with cooking spray. Right before you add the bread to the pan, add the butter and allow it to melt.

In a large mixing bowl add beaten eggs and dip each slice of bread into the eggs, covering both sides with egg wash. Place on the heated pan (don’t crowd the pan—you may need to do this in batches). Grill 2-3 minutes per side (until lightly browned). Remove them from the griddle and place on a clean work surface. Repeat cooking all of the bread. After they cool a bit cut into 2″ sticks (4 sticks per slice of French toast). Place sticks on a platter dish and cover with an aluminum foil tent.

In a frying pan on medium heat add 2 tablespoons of the butter and the sliced apples, cinnamon and granulated sugar. Cook apple mixture for 7-8 minutes stirring frequently.

Serve desired amount of French toast sticks onto an individual dish, add a pat of butter and several spoons full of cinnamon apple mixture to the top. Dust lightly with confectioners’ sugar. Enjoy!
