Anyone can make these decadent doughnuts—in no time flat! They start with a box mix, but you’ll have everyone guessing!
Preheat oven to 350F. Prepare a doughnut pan with non-stick cooking spray.
Prepare cake mix using egg, yolks, pudding, water, and butter. Mix until smooth and creamy. Using a spoon or piping bag, fill the prepared doughnut pan (large doughnut pans make 6, small make 12). Place the tray in the oven and bake for 15-17 minutes, or until the cake is springy to the touch.
Allow to cool in pan for 5 minutes before removing to cool completely.
Continue filling the doughnut pan until all batter is used, or use the remaining batter to make cupcakes if you prefer.
While doughnuts are baking, prepare the ganache.
Bring the cream to just a simmer, then remove from heat. Wait for one minute before pouring cream over the chocolate chips. After 30 seconds, stir to combine. When room temperature, use a knife to ice the doughnuts. You can then add the leftover ganache to a piping bag or use a spoon to drizzle more chocolate over the cooled doughnuts. You could also sprinkle the doughnuts with jimmies or powdered sugar to dress them up a bit more.
Enjoy!

I made these last night, and I just wanted to thank you. I am a weight loss surgery patient, and I have been searching for a good, healthy donut recipe I can use. I tweaked your recipe to use the Pillsbury Reduced Sugar Devil’s Food Cake mix, Sugar Free Instant Pudding, and Sugar Free Chocolate Chips. It’s fantastic! I even brought some to work this morning to share, because you cannot tell that these are healthy and good for you. Really solved my chocolate craving. Thank you, thank you!

I’ve never heard of a doughnut pan either. The picture looks so scrumcious but I was dissapointed by so many prepared ingredients in this like the pudding and the cake mix. I was hoping for something more homemade.

Sounds, great – can’t wait to try – so easy.
I’ve made a lot of doughnuts in my life, but I’ve never heard of a doughnut pan. What is a doughnut pan?
