Description

Yummy chocolate bread using the Amish Friendship Bread starter (see my TastyKitchen recipe box for the starter recipe).

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Amish Starter (see My TastyKitchen Recipe Box For The Starter Recipe)
  • 3 whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Oil
  • ½ cups Milk
  • ½ teaspoons Vanilla
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1-½ teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 2 cups Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 5-⅛ ounces, weight Instant Chocolate Pudding
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips
  • Optional For Topping: Powdered Sugar And/or Cocoa Powder

Preparation

Preheat oven to 325F.

In a large bowl mix starter, eggs, oil, milk and vanilla.

In another bowl add dry ingredients, mixing well. Add the dry ingredients (except chocolate chips) to the wet, mixing well. Then stir in chocolate chips.

Grease 2-3 bread pans, depending on size. Pour batter evenly into pans, so they are 3/4 full. Bake for 1 hour or until a tooth pick inserted comes out clean. Let cool.

Dust with powdered sugar and cocoa.
