Description

Kick store-bought buns to the curb. These are easy and delicious. You’ll never look back!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cups Warm Water
  • 3 teaspoons Yeast
  • 2 Tablespoons Honey
  • 2 Tablespoons Melted Butter
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 2-½ cups White Wheat Flour, Plus More To Make A Stiff Dough
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 whole Egg White, Beaten, For Egg Wash (optional)
  • Optional Garnishes: Italian Seasoning, Poppy Seeds, Or Sesame Seeds

Preparation

In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes. Then add the honey, melted butter, and egg. Beat until smooth. Add 2 cups of flour. Beat until smooth. Add salt and remaining flour until you get a kneadable dough. Knead on setting 1 for 6 minutes. Cover dough and let it rest for 10 minutes.

Divide dough into 8 pieces and shape into buns. Place buns on a greased/parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Flatten.

Let buns rise until doubled. If desired, brush with beaten egg white and sprinkle with Italian seasoning, poppy seeds, or sesame seeds.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Slice them in half horizontally using a serrated knife.

Stores wonderfully in the freezer.

These are my go-to hamburger and sandwich buns. They are really quick to make and always turn out perfectly – fluffy, soft, and just the right shape!

This has become our everyday bread. Freezes beautifully and therefore stays fresher longer than a loaf of bread. I make 16 “slider” size buns for my kids to use for everything from burgers to PB&J to turkey and cheese sandwiches. Thanks so much for the recipe!
