Description

These tender, flaky biscuits with a sweet twist are perfect for breakfast or with your afternoon cup of tea.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ cups Shortening
  • ¾ cups Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ¼ cups Butter, Softened
  • ¼ cups Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon

Preparation

Combine flour, baking powder and salt; cut in shortening. Add milk and vanilla; stir with a fork just until dough leaves the sides of the bowl.

Roll dough out, on a lightly floured surface, into a 1/4 inch thick circle.

Spread butter over top of dough. Combine cinnamon and sugar; sprinkle evenly over dough.

Using a biscuit cutter or a round cookie cutter, cut into rounds. Place dough rounds into a sprayed round baking pan.

Bake in a 400ºF oven for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.

The biscuit recipe part was too dry. I had to modify it to make it flaky and have some moisture. Not enough fats in this. But the idea is a good one. I did like the topping idea and will do again. Just with my own biscuit recipe

I haven’t made homemade biscuits in years and was searching for something my teen and Thai exchange student would eat for breakfast. I made them quickly the night before and they both ate them right out of the oven. My super picky teen LOVED them and even my exchange student said the were delicious. Super easy, teenage boy approved, and my house smelled wonderful while they were baking.
