Description

It’s nice to have a savory scones once in awhile and these are great!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Chives
  • ½ cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • ¼ cups Butter, Cut Up
  • 1 whole Egg
  • ⅔ cups Buttermilk

Preparation

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, chives and cheddar cheese.

Add cold butter to dry mixture and, using a pastry blender or two knives, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Lightly beat egg with buttermilk. Add to mixture and stir with a fork until the mixture comes together.

Turn out onto a floured board with floured hands knead the dough 5 or 6 times.

Place the rounded dough onto a greased baking sheet and using a floured hand, press the dough out into a circle about 8 inches in diameter.

Using a large floured knife, cut into 8 pie-shaped segments.

Bake at 425F for about 15 minutes or until golden.
