Description

A simple, delicious take on your average dinner roll! Absolutely scrumptious!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose Flour (Whole Wheat Flour Also Works Well)
  • 1-½ teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • ½ cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • ½ cups Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Mayonnaise

Preparation

1. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together in a small mixing bowl. (Note that you could also use 1 cup of self-rising flour instead of this mixture.) And feel free to go lighter on the salt—a biscuit made with less salt and served with a creamy, salty butter is delicious!
2. Add cheese to the flour mixture. Depending on what I’m serving the biscuits with, sometimes I like to add a bit more cheese for extra flavor. And feel free to be flexible with the type of cheese you use. My favorite is a super-aged cheddar!
3. Stir milk and mayonnaise into the mixture, just until moistened.
4. Fill 6 greased muffin cups 2/3 full.
5. Bake at 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes, until biscuit tops are golden brown.

Thanks guys! I forgot to add that whole-wheat flour also works really well for this recipe.

Very tasty (good combination of crunchy outside / chewy inside) and couldn’t be easier. I doubled the recipe and was glad I did. Only changes I would make next time are to use a sharper / more flavorful cheese and try adding some Italian seasoning or dill. But great as-is.

I made these tonight to go with a chicken casserole. They were easy, really fast and great! Thank you!

I made these last night to go with some veggi/bean soup I make a couple times a month. They were super easy, fast, and YUMMY. I would not change a thing. Thanks so much!

Delicious and super easy. We had them with split pea soup tonight. But I’m thinking of using them for little breakfast sandwiches, too. I’ll just cut them in half and put some bacon and a fried egg in the middle.

These were so amazing! I made half the recipe thinking two people didn’t need more than that but we gobbled them up so fast I wish I had made more! The only thing I did differently was brushed some melted garlic butter over the top when they came out of the oven. So light and tender – these were a definite hit in our home! Thanks!
