A biscuit with the sausage and cheese already baked in. Perfect for those mornings when you need to grab and go.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the flours, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt. Add the butter cubes and work in with a pastry blender or two forks until crumbly.
Add sausage, chives, and cheese and mix to incorporate. Add buttermilk and mix everything until well combined.
Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and pat into a 8×10 rectangle and 3/4″ thick. Cut dough into 2″ squares. Place squares on a parchment-lined cookie sheet 1″ apart. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until slightly golden.
Best served warm with butter. Enjoy!
Note: you can use all-purpose flour for the recipe instead of using the white whole wheat flour.

Is it bad that I feel I would be tempted to eat the dough?? This sounds REALLY good! I posted an Irish Scone recipe today, and this seems to go right along with how I make those, which means I think I could do this. And I use white wheat all the time. Thanks for sharing!
