Description

Oatmeal cookies that even a kid will love.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Butter
  • 1-½ cup Brown Sugar
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 4 whole Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 4 cups Flour
  • 4 cups Rolled Oats
  • 4 cups Chocolate Chips

Preparation

Heat oven to 350F.

Add together butter and both sugars until creamy. Add in eggs, and vanilla. Slowly add in cinnamon, baking soda, salt and flour and mix completely. Then add in your rolled oats and mix until fully combined.

Turn off your mixer and now FOLD in your chocolate chips. You could try and use a large spoon but I just use my hands. Just a couple of folds, you don’t want to handle the dough too much with your warm hands but you want to get everything mixed well.

On a parchment-lined cookie sheet (or well-greased sheet if you don’t have parchment paper), spoon heaping-teaspoon-sized balls of dough onto your sheet about two inches apart from each other and bake for 10-12 minutes.

Tip:
Remember to keep your dough cold. This will help them keep their form during cooking. Try keeping your dough in the fridge in between batches of baking.

I’ve made this a lot over the last year. I usually make a dozen and then freeze the rest in balls of dough on a cookie sheet in my freezer. Once they are frozen I throw them in a ziploc bag and have cookies on hand all the time! I really have loved these cookies! Thanks for sharing!

My aunt makes these when I visit. She adds walnuts and white chocolate chunks. I love my aunt!

I have tried a lot of oatmeal cookie recipes looking for “the one” and I finally found it. Easy and delicious. I halved the recipe and added walnuts – super yum. Thanks!

Excellent recipe. I halved it and still had LOTS of cookies. These were a huge hit with my entire family at our 4th of July gathering.
My mom has already requested I make them again, with the addition of pecans :)
These would be just as good without the chocolate chips, if you just want a standard oatmeal cookie.

Ok…so there is nothing “unique”about this recipe…but it just works! It is an easy to follow recipe that turns out a great cookie. This will be my new go to Oatmeal Cookie recipe. Thanks for sharing it with us!
