Before my mom became part of the health food craze, she used to make this for my sister and me when we were little. It’s like a combination of a fritter and French toast. I don’t know where she originally got the recipe, but I’ve never found anything else like it.
Stir together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk in the milk and eggs until a smooth batter forms. Dip bread in the batter until coated. Fry in 1/2 inch of hot oil until puffed and golden.
