Not the oatmeal cookie I grew up with.
Cream together the butter and the sugars. Add eggs, stir until combined. Add vanilla. Pray for stronger arms.
Add flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing it all together. Add oats, pray wooden spoon doesn’t break. Mix.
Add chocolate chips and coconut. Stir until all ingredients are combined and arm is tired.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Edited: Works better at 350 degrees.
Use spoons to drop dough onto a greased baking sheet.
Suggested cooking time is 12-13 minutes.
Cool on the sheet, then remove to wire racks to finish cooling. Swat Girrl and Retro-Man away from the cookies like flies at a picnic. Oops, one broke. Must eat. Quality control check. Mmm …

Variation: use dried cranberries and almonds in place of chocolate chips. My hips will never be the same.
